The City of Belding, Michigan is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Works and Utilities Director.
Belding, Michigan is a historic city with a population of 5,757. The city is located approximately 25 miles north and west of Grand Rapids. The town consists of residential, commercial and industrial properties. There is an extensive park and trail system along the Flat River. The City is 4.8 square miles with 37 miles of streets. The potable water system comes from wells and a new wastewater treatment plant is currently under construction. The Public Works Department duties consist of water, sewer, streets, parks and cemeteries, buildings and grounds, fleet, capital purchase planning, and budgeting.
Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or equivalent plus specialized training in water distribution and treatment and/or wastewater treatment. S-2 Distribution license, D-2 Treatment license and/or Wastewater Treatment licensing are highly desired. Applicants should also have 3-5 years of supervisory experience. The City of Belding may consider any equivalent amount of credentials, training or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.

The City of Belding is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time custodian to work in one or more city buildings. Duties include but are not limited to general cleaning such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and dusting. Hours will vary and may be set to coincide with the candidates existing schedule. Salary will be based upon qualifications.
Minimum requirements: Two or more years verifiable experience in custodial or cleaning services.

The City of Belding Dial-A-Ride is accepting applications for part-time Public Transportation Drivers. Dial-A-Ride services run Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Duties include operating a small bus, rider interaction, performing daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections, collection of fares, operating a hydraulic lift, mobility device securement, monitoring the activity and safety onboard the vehicle, two-way radio communication with dispatch and other drivers, and other duties as assigned. Candidates must possess a good driving record and must submit to a pre-employment drug test. The Belding Police Department Reserve Unit is accepting applications for the position of a Reserve Police Officer until filled. This is an unpaid, volunteer, noncertified position. Prospective applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have no criminal convictions, and a clear driving record. The applicant must be able to obtain a Concealed Pistol License and successfully complete Reserve Officer Training. A thorough background and criminal history will be conducted on all applicants. The Belding Police Reserve program is a valuable asset to the Belding Police Department and the community. The Belding Police Reserves provide security at school functions, athletic events, and community programs. The Reserve officers also ride along with sworn officers for extra assistance during high service periods.
